Gaining your Permanent Residency with Express Entry

As you may know, there are many ways by which you may obtain a permanent residence statuspermanent residence status in Canada. Express Entry Express Entry is one of the options. However, the Express Entry can be confusing to many foreign nationals in terms of application types, as there are many categories under the Express Entry system. In order to prepare you for your application, it is important for you to recognize and understand the eligibility requirements prior to applying. The Express Entry immigration system process has two steps that a foreign national must take in order to successfully complete the application process. In this blog, you will learn about eligibility requirements for Express Entry, as well as the application process of Express Entry.

What is Express Entry

The Express Entry immigration system allows foreign nationals that come from a variety of different fields, educational backgrounds, and work experience to immigrate to Canada. By applying for Express Entry, you are essentially establishing a mutually beneficial relationship with the Canadian Government. That being said, while you are obtaining your permanent residency, you are also contributing to the Canadian Labour Market and the economy. As long as the foreign national is eligible, they can apply under the Express Entry immigration system to get a Permanent Resident Status in Canada. Permanent Resident Status will then be your stepping-stone to the last stop of your Canadian Immigration journey, which is obtaining the Canadian citizenship.

Eligibility Requirements for Express Entry

In order to qualify for the Express Entry qualify for the Express Entry immigration system, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada will ask about your:

· nationality

· age

· language ability

· family members

· education

· work experience

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada will tell you what programs you may be eligible for based on your answers. After Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada has determined your eligibility for your prospective program, you will be placed in a pool of other applicants to compete with one another. Those who have the highest scores will be invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada.

At this point, you may be wondering about how the competition will take place. The competition will be based on the scores you have on the Comprehensive Ranking System. The higher your score is, the more competitive you are. The scores are based on age, education, work experience, language ability, whether or not you have a Canadian spouse, whether or not you have arranged employment in Canada, as well as how you, as a candidate, can directly benefit the Canadian labour market and the Canadian economy.

Comprehensive Ranking System

The Comprehensive Ranking System  Comprehensive Ranking System determines a variety of factors that show a foreign work’s capability to be a competitive and valuable contribution to the Canadian economy. The higher your score is, the better the chance you will be selected to receive an invitation for permanent residency in Canada. The CRS will assess the answers you provide on your profile for the following factors:

· Skills

· Work Experience

· Education

· Language Ability

· Other Factors

Keep in mind, the CRS can also give you points for any of the following as well:

· Canadian diploma, degree or certificate

· Valid job offer from a Canadian employer

· Nomination from a Province or Territory

· Other Factors

Based on all of the aforementioned factors, you must be one of the highest ranked candidates in order to get an invitation for permanent residency in Canada.

While You are in the Pool

Needless to say, you simply need to get ready for an invitation. In the meantime, you may start preparing for the essential documents that you will need for your permanent residence. The documents may include, but are not limited to:

· Language test results

· Police certificates

You can also try to improve your scores while you are in the pool. To do so, you may get a valid job offer, improve the score of your language test, improve your education, gain more work experiences, and so on.

When You are Invited to Apply

If you have gotten the invitation to apply for permanent residence from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, you will need to show proof of the information in your Express Entry profile. Please note, this is an important step for you to thoroughly consider because it may ultimately result in the refusal of your application. As such, you need to make sure the information you have given to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada is accurate and not misleading.

You also have the right to decline an invitation. If you decline an invitation, you will be placed back into the Express Entry pool of candidates. You'll be considered in future rounds of invitation, if you are still eligible. It is worth mentioning that if you have chosen to decline an invitation, your decision will not affect whether or not you are invited to apply later.

What if You are Not Invited to Apply

Do not be frustrated, though. There are other ways by which you may be able to immigrate to Canada. For example, you can apply for a Provincial Nominee Program, Spousal Sponsorship, Parental Sponsorship, and many more.

If you’re not invited to apply within 12 months of submitting your Express Entry profile, it will automatically expire and be removed from the system. You can still create a new profile. Please note, it is better for you not to create a new profile until your existing profile expires. If you really do need to create a new profile, you will need to withdraw your existing profile first.
