The Express Entry Pool

The Express Entry Pool

What is the Express Entry Pool?

This is where you will find potential candidates like yourself who have went ahead and created an Express Entry Profile. Once you have created your profile you will need to ensure that you are eligible for one of the economic immigration programs.

What are the programs?

There are 4 programs that will be taken into consideration for you to fall under. They are:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program

  • Canadian Experience Class, and;

  • A portion of the Provincial Nomination Program will also be taken into account for eligibility

If you have proved to be eligible for one of these programs then you will be put into a pool with other candidates that have also been found eligible.

What happens in the pools?

This is where the Federal and Provincial Governments as well as Canadian employers will go to look at and select their potential employees.

If you are in the pool does that guarantee a job?

No, just by being in the pool it is not a guarantee that you will receive a job offer as you still have to meet the requirements under immigration law.

What do you do if you are selected?

Once you have been selected by either a potential employer or the Government, you will receive an Invitation to Apply for Permanent Residence under one of the programs.

With most cases, when a job is offered the employers will need a Labour Market Impact Assessment. By them providing this it will just show that they have attempted to hire available Canadians for the particular job first. The LMIA will come at absolutely no cost for you.

What will you gain points for?

  • Having a job offer

  • Provincial nomination and;

  • Skills and experience

How can you gain additional points?

You can gain additional points by having a job offer that has been supported by an LMIA. You also will have the opportunity to gain additional points if you have received a nomination by a province.

Additional points mean that you will have enough points to get an Invitation to Apply for Permanent Residence at the next available round of invites.

What happens if you are invited to apply?

If you have received an Invitation to Apply for Permanent Residence you will have 60 days to submit your application online.

How long is the process?

Most of the fully complete applications will be processed within 6 months or less.

How long can you stay in the pool?

You are able to stay in the pool for a period of 12 months at a time. If after the 12 months you have not received an Invitation to Apply then you have the opportunity to submit a new profile. If at this time you still meet all the necessary requirements as well then you are able to re-enter into the pools.
