What is the International Experience Canada?

The IEC offers you the opportunity to work and travel abroad. IEC provides a pathway to a work permit or visa to work and explore over 30 countries and territories. Canada has agreements with over 30 foreign countries and territories that are designed to make it easier for youth to travel and work abroad. With these agreements in place, it also makes it easier for youth from all of these countries to work and travel in Canada. Under the International Experience Canada agreements work permits are usually easier to get, less expensive, more flexible and processed more quickly than most other work permits. The IEC permits can be valid from up to 2 years.

Understanding the International Experience Canada Program

The International Experience Canada Program, as previously mentioned, is a program that allows youth to travel and work in Canada temporarily. Citizens of countries with a bilateral Youth Mobility Arrangement with Canada who are between 18 and 35 years old may be eligible for the International Experience Canada Program applications. There are three types of travel and work experience under the International Experience Canada Program: Working Holiday, Young Professionals, and International Co-op Internships.

The Youth Mobility Program in Canada is very unique and gives an opportunity for foreign youth to travel from their country of origin to Canada on a foreign exchange program. The advantages of this particular program are many and foreign youth are able to travel and work abroad, particularly in Canada, with support from a number of organizations. Therefore, in this article, I will explain in detail, what the youth mobility program is, the countries that are a part of the youth mobility program, how to apply for a start-up visa, and more.

What is the Youth Mobility Program

The Youth Mobility Program is facilitated by the International Experience Canada (IEC) program. The IEC program has a variety of organizations that provide substantial support for travel and work abroad services between Canada and other countries, for a fee, specifically for either Canadians going abroad and/or foreign nationals coming to Canada. In this particular circumstance, the foreign nationals coming to Canada would be youths. The services that are offered may include support in securing accommodations, arranging transportation, or assisting with finding employment, for instance. The organizations that participate in this program can either be Canadian organizations that have partners overseas or they may be international organizations that have an office within Canada.
