Express Entry: Do I Need A Job Offer To Immigrate To Canada Under Express Entry?

It is not mandatory as an applicant to Canada within the Express Entry system for you to have a job offer in order to apply.

Canadian employers now play a larger role now with the immigration under the Express Entry than they have ever before. Meaning, that having a valid job offer from a Canadian employer may increase your chances of being invited to apply for Permanent Residence.

Advantages of having a job offer:

  • Having a job offer allows you the opportunity to gain additional points under the Federal Skilled Worker category of the Canadian Immigration
  • Having a job offer can be an essential element for qualifying under the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP)
  • You may receive priority processing of your application for a Canadian Permanent Residence
  • May allow you quicker entry to Canada on a Work Permit during the processing time of your Canadian Immigration application

What if you don’t have a job offer?

Having a job offer is not the only way anymore, now there is another way for you to increase your chances of being invited to apply. This way is known as promoting yourself directly to the potential employers.

If you meet the requirements in one of the economic immigration programs within Express Entry then you will have the ability to enter the pool. If you have a job offer which is supported by LMIA it may be seen as an asset for you but it is not deemed as a requirement.

How do employers use the Express Entry System?

There are two ways in which employers can have access to you and you information. These are:

  1. They can find you through their hiring practice or recruiting process; or,
  2. They ca find you through the Job Bank that has been recently added to this process January 2015. The job bank will be used for matching you with your potential qualified employer.

In order for the employers to approach you, you must ensure that you have registered yourself to be able to have your information in the job banks.

Our staff have a great understanding of what is needed in order for your application for this whole process to run smoothly. If you acquire any assistance with this matter please feel free to call us and let us know, we can get you on the right track immediately!
