Business class is the third stream of permanent residence immigration under the economic class. Business class consists of three categories of people:
Entrepreneurs
Investors
Self employed persons
The business class allows for the immigration of experienced business persons who can stimulate national and regional economic development in Canada with their financial capita and business knowledge. The business class usually represents only small percent of overall immigration population.
Business class applicants are primarily selected on the basis of their ability to create jobs for themselves and other Canadians.
The entrepreneurs and investors are the most similar to each other. Both of these categories require two years of business experience, a minimum net worth and an agreement with CIC. To satisfy the requirements of business experience the entrepreneurs or investors must show that they managed a qualifying business for at least two years in the last five years.
A qualifying business is one with operating income retrieved through sales of goods or services rather than only passive investment income.

Age, education and language proficiency are all measured in the same manner as for skilled workers. However assessments of experience and adaptability vary depending on whether the applicant is applying as an entrepreneur, investor or self employed person. All business class applicants must achieve at least a score of 35 points out of 100.
The application kits for the business class are found on CIC website. These application kits include guide, several forms, and other instructions on how to complete the package.
Once the application is deemed complete it is then sent for the processing to the visa office which sends the applicant a letter of receipt with the office file number so that the applicant can track the progress of the case.
The visa officers examine the application to ensure that the applicant meets the statutory requirements and selection criteria, they examine the person’s business and financial requirements and selection criteria. They examine the person’s business and financial background, evaluate the soundness of business plans in Canada and make sure the applicant’s wealth was not obtained illegally.
