Qualified for Canada Immigration Visa under the Family Sponsorship Category

The objective of the Family Class of immigration is to reunite family members in Canada. It allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their loved ones. The government of Canada strongly supports keeping families together whenever possible.

For anyone to qualify for a Canadian immigration visa they must be a close relative of a Canadian citizen or a Canadian permanent resident. More precisely to be qualified under the Family Sponsorship category, the sponsored person (s) must be related to the Canadian sponsor in one of the following way mentioned below:

  • They must be parent (s) or grandparent(s); or
  • They must be a dependent child; or
  • Orphaned, unmarried, and under the age of 18
  • Brother, sister, nephew, niece or grandchild
  • Intended adopted child under 18 years of age; or
  • One other relative.

To obtain a visa through the spousal sponsorship program immigration program, the sponsor and sponsored person have to show evidence of relationship that qualifies under the three following:

  • Spousal relationship
  • Common-law partners
  • Conjugal partner

The following people can be added in the sponsored person’s application for a Canada Immigration Visa under the family sponsorship category:

  • The spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner of the sponsored person
  • The dependent child of the sponsored person or the sponsored persons spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner.
  • The dependent child of the sponsored person’s dependent child or their spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner’s.
