When a permanent resident application is successful, you will need to have proof of your status as a permanent resident in Canada. You will also need your permanent resident card if you plan on travelling outside of Canada and entering through any commercial means such as a plane, boat, train, or bus.
If you are a new permanent resident, you will be mailed your new card. If at any time your card has been stolen, lost, or destroyed, you will need to make an application to replace it.
