What is a Super Visa?
You may ask, “Well what is a super visa and why would I want or need one?” “Can’t I just get a visitor’s visa?” A Super Visa is very similar to a regular Visitors Visa, the one major difference is the time period in which you are allowed inside the country. In the case of a regular Visitors Visa, you could only stay up to 6 months at a time, for example, if you are given a 10 year visa every 6 months you would have to exit the country while with a super visa you would have to exit every two years without have to renew your visa. If you have family that visits you often then it’s recommended to get the super visa, because it saves you time and money in the long run for not having to renew it constantly.
Who can apply for Super Visa?
Parents and Grandparents who live abroad can apply for a super visa by completing the super visa application and submitting the required documents. Now, not just any parents and/or grandparents can apply. In order for the parent(s) or grandparent(s) to be eligible, they have to be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who resides inside Canada. Unfortunately, if you are not related to the citizen or permanent resident of Canada, you are not eligible to apply for a super visa and / or complete the application form. To ensure no missing files and/or documents, call us at Akrami & Associates for an in person or over the phone consultation and one of our helpful and experienced associates would be more than happy to help you and meet your needs.
Important documents for Super Visa
As with any application, there are many documents you need to include when applying for your super visa. Some important documents include evidence on how the parent and/or grandparent are related to the Canadian citizen or permanent resident, photocopy of your passport, the visa application itself, and the purpose of your travel. The things that I mentioned are only some of the required information/documents that you are required to provide. Along with your purpose of travel, you have to prove to the officer that you have ties to your home country and will eventually be leaving Canada to go back to it. Unfortunately, many people miss their chance at obtaining a super visa because they are not aware of all of the documents that they have to include in addition to their application. At Akrami and Associates, we have dealt with many cases and know the legality behind every one of them. Do not hesitate to reach out to one of our experienced associates for a consultation on how to proceed with your case to have higher chance of a successful outcome.
How much does it cost to obtain a Super Visa?
When applying for a super visa, you have to pay the corresponding government fee which is $100 for a multiple entry and $100 for a single entry. Also, depending on your country of citizenship you may also have to do biometrics and pay the applicable fees. A biometric fee is $85 CAD per person. If you are submitting your application online you can either create an account using your online banking login (Sign-in Partner) or Government of Canada login (GCKey). If you are submitting a paper application, the payment is only allowed when you submit your application through your account. To pay your fees online you will need to have PDF Reader software, printer, credit card (pre-paid cards and Visa Debit cards are not acceptable) and a valid email address.
