Intra-Company Qualifications:
The Canadian government has introduced various programs that help business professionals enter into Canada without much hassle. This is where the Intra-Company Transfer work permit program comes in, as it allows certain employees like:
-
Executives,
-
Senior managers and
-
Specialized knowledge workers to transfer to a Canadian branch of an international company.
There are certain requirements that you must fulfill in order to qualify under this category. One of the main requirements of an intra- company transferee is that the business enterprise you are working for must be or will be doing business in both Canada and the foreign country.
You also may be able to apply for a work permit in advance if your company is opening a new office in Canada and you will be expected to support a managerial, executive or specialized knowledge worker position. If approved under this category, you may be exempt from the LMIA requirement.
Applying under this category may require a long list of documentation in order for you to prove your case. In most cases you would be required to provide:
-
Proof of citizenship from your home country
-
Details of your pre- arranged position ( description of your role)
-
Proof of the relationship between the Canadian and foreign branches of the company
-
Previous employment
-
Minimum one year in the last three years in a similar position that is being offered in Canada.
-
It is important to note that your visits do have time restrictions, which usually depend on your position in Canada.
