Q: What exactly is a valid job offer in Immigration context?
A: This is important to note before seeking employment opportunities in Canada. A valid job offer in Canadian Immigration context is a genuine and honest offer of employment from a valid Canadian employer. A foreign national worker will require a valid job offer prior to applying for a work permit in Canada.
Q: Are there different types of job offers available for me?
A: Yes, there are different types of job offers available for foreign national workers. Technically, a Canadian employer has two types of job offers that they can make. Specifically, they can either offer the foreign national worker a temporary job offer that would be valid for a specific time frame; for instance, it can range from six months to one year. In temporary employment cases, the foreign national will only be permitted to work once they have received a work permit. On the other hand, the Canadian employer can offer the foreign national worker a permanent job offer that would be valid for an indeterminate time frame. For permanent employment, foreign national workers will need to apply for permanent residency in Canada.
Q: Are there any advantages to obtaining a permanent job offer?
A: Yes, there are definitely many advantages to obtaining a permanent job offer from a Canadian employer. Specifically, if the foreign national worker is applying to immigrate to Canada through Express Entry, they should obtain a job offer that is duly supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) in order to gain an additional 50 to 200 additional points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The points obtained entirely depend on the job position that is being offered to the foreign national worker. However, it is important to note that just because a foreign national worker obtains a LMIA supported job offer does not guarantee that Immigration Canada will approve their permanent residency application. Therefore, it is best to make sure your application is as strong as possible for a higher chance of approval.
Q: Are there any advantages to obtaining a temporary job offer?
A: There are advantages to obtaining a temporary job offer from a Canadian employer as well. First and foremost, by obtaining a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, you will be one step closer to obtaining a work permit in Canada. Additionally, if you are approved for a work permit in Canada, this is one of the fastest ways to come to Canada to work. Furthermore, if the Canadian employer truly appreciates the work of the foreign national worker, they are able to offer the foreign national worker a permanent position in their company. Thus, if this is the case, the foreign national worker can then apply for permanent residency under the Express Entry category once they have a permanent job offer and they have successfully worked for the Canadian employer permanently for a minimum of one year.
Q: Are there any disadvantages of obtaining a temporary or permanent job offer in Canada?
A: Most definitely not. It never hurts to obtain a valid job offer as it will assist you with potentially obtaining a work permit and thus working in Canada.
Q: Is it difficult to obtain employment in Canada?
A: In most cases, it is not difficult to obtain employment in Canada. However, this entirely depends on your specific circumstances as everyone is different and has different work experience. It is important to note that in Canada, there are many jobs that go unfilled and many Canadian employers actively seek new employees for their businesses. Obtaining a valid job offer from outside of Canada can present its challenges; however, it is possible to obtain with perseverance and dedication. Additionally, there are many ways to seek employment in Canada. For instance, you may be able to search on job search engines, such as the Job Bank of Canada, which is actually created by the Canadian government. The Job Bank allows Canadian employers to post their employment opportunities and for foreign national workers to seek out employment opportunities in Canada. Therefore, if a foreign national is trying to obtain work in Canada, searching on the Job Bank is one of the best ways. Of course, there are many other job search engines that you can research and it is highly advisable to do so if you would like to work in Canada.
