Business Visitor

There are several thousand business people who come into Canada to do business with Canadians and their companies per year. Most of the Business Visitor applications are taken care of at the port of entry, which makes it extremely important that you have all of your paper work in a proper and organized manner.

Business Activities Within Canada Can Include Things Like:

Buying Canadian goods/services for your business (back home)
Taking orders for your business
Being trained by a Canadian parent company of yours or;
Providing after-sales services

The main thing is that you will be required to show/prove for this class that you meet all of Canada’s basic entry requirements. This will include:

A valid travel document/passport
That you will be coming with enough money to support yourself during your stay as well as for your return home
That you are planning to leave at the end of your outlined visit and;
That you are not a criminal or health threat to Canada in any way- this step may require you to complete a medical exam

You will be considered a Business Visitor to Canada if you are coming to:

Invest
Look for ways to grow your business or;
Advance your business relationships

In order for you to come into Canada and be deemed as a Business Visitor you will might also need to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa. This title is no different than any other visitor that comes into Canada.

To apply as a Temporary Resident Visa you must be able to show:

That you are planning to stay for 6 months or less
That you do NOT plan to enter into the Canadian Labour Market
That your main source of income is remaining outside of Canada and;
That you have all the documents needed to support your application

If it is not required that you apply for a Temporary Resident Visa, a letter of invitation from your potential business partner is expected as well as 24 hour contact details for that person.

If you are planning to stay longer than 6 months, to work in Canada you may be considered a temporary worker. If this is the case then you will need to apply for a work permit.

There are several documents that will be required of you when you apply as a Business Visitor to Canada. These documents include:

An invitation from the Canadian company to you (necessary)
A letter that confirms you are employed full time by your company
A verification letter confirming that you are not coming to Canada for employment
A copy of the data page within your passport
A copy of your resume that proves that you are employed by your foreign country and that you are entering into Canada to conduct training on a specific product/service that you have experience with
Your itinerary which will show your activities from the time of your arrival into Canada until the time of your departure
You will also be required to provide proof that establishes ties between you and your home country
