The Canadian government permits Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their family member such as parents and grandparents. If you want to sponsor your parents or grandparents then you have to know that there are few factors that can make you ineligible for sponsoring your parents or grandparents.
You have to be aware of those factors which can make you ineligible for sponsoring:
- You may not be eligible for if you have any of the removal orders such as stayed orders, departure orders, exclusion orders, and deportation orders
- If you are detained in a penitentiary, jail, reformatory, and prison, then you are also not eligible for sponsorship.
- If you are convicted for a sexual assault against any person (relative or stranger) under the Canada Criminal Code. It also depends on the severity of assault and as well as your sentence
- If you are in default of payment such as for an undertaking, immigration loan, performance bond, and family member support (child support or spouse support),
- If you have an undischarged bankruptcy under the Canadian Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act
- If you have sponsor your family member before and you did not provide them basic needs and did not comply with the financial undertaking
- If you are receiving social assistance from the government
